Lenscratch Photography Educator: Aimée Beaubien

Each month, as a guest editor for Lenscratch, I interview a photography educator, highlighting their insights, strategies, and excellence in inspiring students of all ages. Lenscratch, the online daily photography journal founded by Aline Smithson in 2007, celebrates a different contemporary photographer each day and has become a significant platform in the photography community.

For February I had the honor of featuring Aimée Beaubien (www.aimeebeaubien.com), the extraordinary photography teacher at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, IL where she has taught since 1997 and whose work is a radical experiment in immersive design, blending photography, plants, and industrial materials into vibrant, interconnected installations.

Elizabeth Stone

Visual artist Elizabeth Stone's work explores perception and time by combining her study of photography and drawing with biology. The duality of art and science is a strong influence when considering her own place in the world and the marks that she makes.
